Larry Puls & Angelina with Harold Zimmerman the winner of the Western Front Dawn Patrols raffle.

We drew for the raffle prize at the Cobras annual holiday party. Our congratulations go out to Harold Zimmerman. He won the raffle for the Hangar 9 Fokker D.VII that was raffled off to raise funds for the next Western Front Dawn Patrol.
It is somewhat ironic that Harold won the Fokker, as he is the only guy in the Western Front group who already has one. But as Harold pointed out, he may wind up needing the spare parts come next flying season. *grin*
Our thanks to all who participated in the raffle. Your continued support helps us keep the Dawn Patrol event going.

We also presented the first-ever "Order of the Golden Camel" to Steve Jordan. This prize was originally intended to go to the pilot whose plane did the "best crash" at the annual Dawn Patrol, but because there were no crashes at the actual event this year it went to Steve. For those of you not familiar with Steve's trials and tribulations in getting a plane ready for participation in our Dawn Patrol event, suffice it to say that if Job from the Bible had faced such obstacles as Steve has, he would have given up R/C! *LOL!* Thanks for hanging in there, Steve. We know it will be worth it next flying season!

Best regards,
Dean Dingman

The Cobras 2011 Holliday Party was held at Golden Corral Family Restaurants 3103 Dial Dr. Council Bluffs, IA again this year.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people.  We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West.  Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying.  Itís all level open ground.  We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way.  The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit.  All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads.  We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field.  That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem.  Be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
