October 13, 2009 Minutes

October 13th, 2009

President Larry Puls called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm at American Legion Post # 2 with 12 members present.

Secretary Lynn Fehr read the minutes of the September 2, 2009 meeting.  Keith Paskewitz made a motion to accept the minutes as read.  Seconded and carried.

Treasurer’s report was not given, as Dale Parker was absent. Dale did call into Secretary Lynn Fehr and reported the Treasurer’s Report.

Lynn Fehr read a paper of “Anecdotes Concerning Cobra Men” that was written by Arlene Sheely around 1969.

Ed Paasch of the OMAHAWKS invited the COBRAS Club to help at the annual auction.  4 people volunteered to help on October 18, 2009.

Larry Puls passed out prizes from the Dawn Patrol event.

Larry Puls requested nominations for club officer. No nominations came from the members present.  A motion was made for nominations to cease.  Ed Splittgerber asked if the current officers would serve.  The current officers accepted.  Final vote for officers will be at the November 4, 2009 meeting.

With no further business a motion was made to adjourn at 7:58pm.  Motion seconded and carried.

Larry played a CD-Rom slide show of 140 pictures using Ed Splittgerber’s HP Laptop.  John Ord displayed his new T-34A ARF Kit.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people.  We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West.  Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying.  It’s all level open ground.  We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way.  The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit.  All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads.  We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field.  That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem.  Be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
