December 2, 2009 Minutes



December 2nd, 2009


       President Larry Puls called the meeting to order at 7:11 pm at American Legion Post # 2 with 9 members present.
       Secretary Lynn Fehr read the minutes of the November 4, 2009 meeting. Roger Vaad made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Seconded and carried.
       Treasurer Dale Parker gave the Treasurerís report with one new membership reported. A motion was made to accept the Treasurerís report as presented. Seconded and carried.


       The last Fun Fly was discussed. Everyone enjoyed the chili and other snack items. There was good flying weather and it was noted the Pot Belly stove worked well and everyone stayed warm.


       Holiday Party will be January 6 at 6:15pm at Golden Corral. A motion was made to purchase a rose for each of the ladies attending with a limit of $2.00 per rose. Seconded and carried.
       Larry Puls asked about the dates for the next two Fun Flies. Future dates are a follows:

       Generally, the Dusk Patrols will be on the 2nd Sunday of the month.
       The field entrance road was discussed. Method and type of materials will be selected. A 15-ton truck will be needed to haul the materials.
       With no further business, Dale Parker made a motion to adjourn at 8:15pm. Seconded and carried.


       Ed Splittgerber showed his current scale building project, which is a twin engine HU-16 Albatross. He explained about different kinds of aircraft paint.
       Keith Paskewitz showed a CX2 Blade Helicopter he got for his son.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people.  We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West.  Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying.  Itís all level open ground.  We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way.  The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit.  All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads.  We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field.  That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem.  Be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
