August 4, 2010 Minutes



AUGUST 4, 2010

       President Larry Puls called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM at American Legion Post #2 with 13 members present and 2 guests (Mike Wickham and Wally Williams).
Secretary Lynn Fehr read the minutes of the July 7, 2010 meeting. A motion was made to accept the minutes as read. Seconded and carried.

       Treasurer Dale Parker gave the Treasurerís Report. A motion was made to accept the Treasurerís Report as read. Seconded and carried. Dale stated that he purchased a jack for the tractor maintenance and paid $31.50 for it.


       Vice President Adam Shelburg stated he had been to the field and it was in good shape.


       Dean Dingman gave an update on the Dawn Patrol Fun Fly scheduled for September 18 Ė 19, 2010.
Dean Dingman introduced our guest speaker Thomas Crean with a little background history. Tom wrote a book on the German Pilot Werner Voss. He gave a report on his life and history in early aviation. Tomís book will be off the press soon. The name of the book is ďPilots of Jasta 10Ē and it has 400 + pages. The book has many pictures, some 1st time to be published.
With no further business a motion was made to adjourn at 8:28 PM. Seconded and carried.


       Terry Lamb brought his 1/3 scale Fokker Triplane. It weighs 45 pounds and is powered with a DA 100 4 cycle engine.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people.  We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West.  Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying.  Itís all level open ground.  We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way.  The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit.  All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads.  We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field.  That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem.  Be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
