August, 2008 Minutes



August 6, 2008


President Larry Puls called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM at American Legion Post # 2 with 14 members present.

          Secretary Lynn Fehr read the minutes for the July 2, 2008 meeting. 

A motion was made to accept the minutes as read.  Seconded and carried. 

          Treasurer Dale Parker gave the Treasurerís report. A motion was made to accept the treasurerís report as well. Seconded and carried.

          Adam Shelburg introduced a guest from Texas, Tracy Mann.





Dale Parker gave a rundown on the New Safety Fencing.  He informed the members of the method of construction and the cost.  After a discussion, a motion was made to extend the plastic covers and go to 4 ft lattice.  Seconded and carried.

          A motion was made to approve the purchase of materials and construction of the Safety Fencing.  Seconded and carried by a 13 to 1 vote.

          George Eheman gave a report on the OLD TIMERS FUN FLY. 

          Dean Dingman gave a status report on the Dawn Patrol Fun Fly.  There will be a raffle for a Balsa USA 1/6 scale Nieuport 17 Kit.




  There was no new business.

          With no further business a motion was made to adjourn at 8:15 PM.




  Larry Bailey flew his new indoor electric Viper.

          Duwayne Schmelzer showed off his new Fokker DR-1 Triplane with a 75 Super Tiger engine.

          Larry Puls showed his new Fokker D-7.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people.  We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West.  Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying.  Itís all level open ground.  We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way.  The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit.  All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads.  We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field.  That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem.  Be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
