January, 2007 Minutes



January 3, 2007

       President Larry Puls called the meeting to order at 7:15 P.M. at the USA Steak Buffet in Council Bluffs for the Annual Christmas Dinner

       Larry Puls welcomed people and thanked them for coming to the dinner tonight. He asked everyone to introduce themselves and their families.

     Larry Puls presented the following members

with Certificates of Appreciation:

       Adam Shelburg – Vice President

       Lynn Fehr – Secretary

       Dale Parker – Treasurer

       Larry Bailey – Safety Officer

       Roger Vaad – Field and Mover Maintenance

       George Eheman – Organizing the Old Timers Fun Fly

       Dave Piper – Flying Demonstrations

       Keith Paskewitz – Webmaster

       Jerry Hakenson – Mower Financing

       Mike McKinney – Updating the membership list

       Larry reported that the necessary papers regarding the club corporation would be mailed so as to register our club. Cost will be $10.00.

       Lynn Fehr made a motion to have a Fun Fly on January 21, 2007. Seconded and Carried. Larry Puls will do the cooking of lunch that day. Flying will be 12:00 Noon to 4:00 P.M.

       Dean Dingman presented information regarding a Flying Event at the Nationals, which was only World War I Aircraft. He has been in contact with a group in Arkansas called the Dawn Patrol, which flies 1/3 Scale WWI Aircraft. They may be interested in attending an Event at the COBRAS field. Possible dates for this event would be May 19 & 20. They would camp at the field and begin flying around 5:00 A.M.

       Larry Bailey made a motion that the president put together a committee to discuss all of the particulars (Sanction – Cost – Advertising – etc) and bring this back to the group next month. Seconded and Carried.


       The Glider Club meeting and that they will fly Electric Gliders.

       The Executive Committee would met and prepare the budget for this year before the February meeting.

There will be an Auction in Waverly, NE on Feb 3, 2007.

       The group was reminded that if they had not paid their 2007 dues that they could pay them to Dale Parker tonight.

       Lynn Fehr moved that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded and Carried.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people.  We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West.  Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying.  It’s all level open ground.  We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way.  The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit.  All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads.  We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field.  That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem.  Be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
