August, 2006 Minutes

 

COBRAS CLUB NEWSLETTER

August 2, 2006

 

President Larry Puls called the meeting to order at 7:15 P.M. at the American Legion Post #2.

We all said HELLO to Jim White from Texas.

          Minutes of the July 5, 2006 meeting were read.  Howard Hough made a motion to accept the minutes as read.  Seconded and carried.

          Dale Parker gave the Treasurerís Report.  Howard Hough made a motion to accept the Treasurerís Report as given.  Seconded and carried.

 

OLD BUSINESS 

          Larry Puls gave a report on the Glider Event.  He also reported that we have 8 new members.

 

NEW BUSINESS

          Dale Parker gave a report on the purchase of the new mower.  He also spent some money for some minor repairs and applied some labor to put it in cutting order.  He asked for help to unload it at the field.

          A motion was made to pay Dale Parker for the additional parts required.  Seconded and carried.

          Ed Splittgerber gave a report on the Old Timers Event that was held in June.

He also reminded us of another Old Timers Event August 26, 2006.

          Larry Puls reported that there would be a Float Fly sponsored by the Omahawks Flying Club on Tuesday August 8, 2006 at 8:30 AM.

          With no further business Howard Hough made a motion to adjourn at 8:05 PM.  Seconded and carried.

 

SHOW AND TELL

          Jim White brought a scratch built Muffin (looks like a Globe Swift).

          Larry Bailey brought an electric ARF Cornet 400.

          Howard Hough brought an E-Flite electric 3-D profile.

          Larry Puls brought an Old Timer Quaker, powered with an OS.52 engine.

The Cobras R/C Club is made up of a friendly and helpful group of people. We have a large grass field that is well maintained and is large enough to take off and land either North/South or East/West. Not only that but there is nothing to run into when you are flying. Itís all level open ground. We have a map to the field so that you will be able to find your way. The Cobras Field is on the west side of I-29 South of the Bellevue exit. All but the last couple of miles or so are hard surface roads. We also have posted on the Field the emergency number to give to the 911 operator so that the emergency unit can quickly find the Field. That number is 54802. It could be very important if someone had a heart attack or other serious problem. The SWIFT Glider club members are also members of the Cobras club and there membership has added to the size of the club which has helped to bring in enough money to pay the cost for rent and upkeep of the field. President Larry Puls cooks great Brats and other goodies for many of the Fun Fly's etc. so be sure to come out to the Field and enjoy the food, flying and camaraderie. If you would like to show everyone your newest creation, that took so much work to build, then bring it to the Cobras Meeting for show and tell. The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month. In January we combine the meeting with dinner at the Holliday Party.  If you wish to join the Cobras download an application form.
